Learn to Ski or Snowboard

The Snowsports School at Cannon Mountain is located slope side in the Brookside Learning Center adjacent to the Peabody Base Lodge in the main base area off exit 34C. We are a PSIA/AASI member school with well-trained and enthusiastic instructors. We offer ski and snowboard lessons for all ability levels for anyone ages 3 and older.

2024/2025 Junior Development Program

Cannon Mountain's Junior Development Program is designed for kids ages 3-14 who want to ski with the same coach and kids all season long. Groups will be split up by age and ability level. The program caters to a wide variety of abilities from first timers who just want to cruise down groomers to more experienced riders who want to learn to zip through moguls or explore the glades. Participants can choose to sign up for Saturday or Sunday programs, or both.

Saturday Program: Ages 3-4
Program Dates: December 14 - March 29 (Excluding 1/18 and 2/15)
Length of session: 9:30am - 11:30am
Program cost: $699
These smaller groups are focused on fostering a love of skiing at an early age. Groups will work on developing the skills to ski safely and independently.

Saturday Program: Ages 5-14
Program Dates: December 14 - March 29 (Excluding 1/18 and 2/15)
Length of session: 9:00am - 3:00pm (lunch 11:45 - 12:30 w/ parents)
Program cost: $1,399

Groups:
Freeride Groups, Ages 7-14: Freeride focused groups will not only spend time sliding and jumping in the parks, but also learning how to apply freestyle elements to other parts of the mountain. These groups are for children that can already ski bumps, trees, and steeps at a high level.
Intro to Race Groups, Ages 5-14: Intro to Race focused groups will work on developing skills to make them successful in a racecourse. These groups will work on building the core skiing skills needed to race. There will be 2 race days for the group over the course of the season. This program is designed for children who have little to no experience racing but are motived to learn. Children in these groups must be able to confidently ski in a controlled wedge on green terrain and are working on skiing in parallel.
All Mountain Groups, Ages 5-14: All mountain groups have no specialized focus, other than improving the skills needed to navigate the mountain safely and confidently. These groups are for all levels of children who want to explore the mountain and learn to shred.

Sunday Program: Ages 3-4
Program Dates: December 15 - March 30 (Excluding 1/19 and 2/16)
Length of session: 9:30am - 11:30am

Kids Lessons

Private Lessons All Ages (4+): Private lessons provide a customized experience for individuals, groups, or families. Prebook your half-day (3hrs on snow) or full-day (6hrs on snow) in advance to make the most out of your day at Cannon. NOTE: Lift tickets and rentals not included.

Quick Private Lessons (Ages 3-4): Cannon’s quick lessons for the littles provide a 1-on-1 experience that is tailored to meet the needs of the mountain’s youngest rippers. These 45min lessons focus on building basic skills and independence. NOTE: Lift tickets and rentals not included.

Full & Half Day Group Lessons (Ages 5-14): The Cannon Kids group lessons provide a safe, fun, and structured learning environment with a well-qualified instructor for all levels. These lessons include a half-day (2 hours on snow) or full-day (4 hours on snow) of instruction, lunch, and a lift ticket. NOTE: Rentals are not included.

Full & Half Day Group Clinics (Ages 14+): Our half-day and full-day Adult Clinics are great for those who are just learning or want to get tips on how to tackle more difficult terrain. These clinics include qualified instruction and a Tuckerbrook Only Lift Ticket. NOTE: Rentals are not included in the base cost of the clinic. To access terrain outside of the Tuckerbrook Family Area, participants will need to purchase a ticket upgrade.
